SEVEN CAR LOUNGE

2025 Lotus Emeya EV

Lotus is best known for its lightweight sports cars, so the release of the 5500+-pound Eletre electric SUV was a significant move outside of their comfort zone.

That makes the 2025 Lotus Emeya EV's debut less shocking, even though it is still a very different vehicle from an Elise or an Emira. Though it has a similar powerplant and design with its brother, the Eletre, this new four-door Emeya hatchback is smaller and more aerodynamically built, so it should perform even better.

Amazing 905 horsepower and 727 pound-feet of torque are expected to be produced by the top-of-the-line Emeya model, while the base configuration is predicted to produce 603 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque, just like the lower-spec Eletre models. This version, like the Taycan, will also have a two-speed transmission.

Despite the fact that the 905-hp Emeya is likely to weigh more than the Eletre, Lotus continues to claim that it can accelerate from 62 mph to 159 mph in less than 2.8 seconds. It features a front grille shutter system, a rear spoiler that may deploy to generate downforce at high speeds, and a rudimentary air suspension system in addition to a variety of active aerodynamic elements.

While official range estimates are still due, Lotus expects the Emeya's will be similar to the Eletre's, with a range of between 260 and 315 miles depending on configuration. Moreover, DC fast charging with a maximum power of 350 kW is possible for the Emeya.

Sleek and modern, the interior design features materials like aluminum, Nappa leather, and Alcantara. The dashboard will soon include a large infotainment touchscreen in addition to an optional 55.0-inch augmented reality head-up display. The configuration displayed includes four seats with rear bucket seats, while a rear bench that can hold five passengers will also be offered. When the rear hatch is opened, a rather spacious cargo area is revealed. It is anticipated by Lotus that the Emeya will enter manufacturing in 2024 and be retailing in the US by 2025. The price will not be disclosed till later.
